Institutional Eligibility

Institutions seeking GCTEQA accreditation must demonstrate lawful operation within the jurisdiction or jurisdictions in which they operate, maintain an identifiable governing authority, provide genuine and organized educational programs, maintain appropriate academic and institutional records, and satisfy GCTEQA’s published eligibility requirements. Eligibility to apply does not constitute candidacy or accreditation. Each institution proceeds through an independent accreditation review based upon documented evidence and compliance with applicable GCTEQA standards and policies.

Not Sure Whether Your Institution Qualifies?

Institutions are encouraged to submit a preliminary inquiry before beginning the formal accreditation process. GCTEQA can determine whether an institution appears to fall within the Commission’s established accreditation scope before a full application is initiated.

The GCTEQA Accreditation Journey

A Clear, Evidence-Based Path to Institutional Accreditation

GCTEQA accreditation is a structured quality-assurance process designed to evaluate institutional integrity, educational quality, governance, transparency, sustainability, and continuous improvement. Each institution progresses through established stages and must demonstrate compliance with applicable GCTEQA standards before accreditation is granted.

1

Preliminary Inquiry

The institution submits basic information about its mission, legal status, programs, delivery methods, and educational activities.

2

Eligibility Review

GCTEQA determines whether the institution falls within its accreditation scope and appears to satisfy the threshold requirements for formal review.

3

Formal Application

An eligible institution submits the accreditation application and required institutional documentation.

4

Institutional Self-Study

The institution evaluates its own operations against GCTEQA standards and provides supporting evidence demonstrating institutional practices and effectiveness.

5

Evaluation Review

Qualified evaluators review the institution’s documentation and may conduct a virtual or on-site evaluation when appropriate.

6

Commission Review & Decision

The Accreditation Commission reviews the complete record, evaluator findings, institutional responses, and applicable standards before determining the appropriate accreditation status.

7

Accreditation & Public Status

Institutions that successfully satisfy GCTEQA requirements receive an official accreditation decision and are listed according to their approved status and scope.

8

Continuous Monitoring & Reaffirmation

Accreditation requires ongoing compliance. Accredited institutions participate in periodic reporting, substantive-change review, monitoring, and reaffirmation according to GCTEQA policy.

Accreditation is never guaranteed by payment of an application, evaluation, or other fee. Accreditation decisions are based upon documented evidence and compliance with published GCTEQA standards and policies.

Mission-Sensitive Review

GCTEQA evaluates institutions within the context of their published mission, religious identity, educational philosophy, and stated goals.

Flexible Delivery Models

GCTEQA’s framework can accommodate eligible institutions offering traditional, online, hybrid, digital, competency-based, certificate, diploma, undergraduate, graduate, and ministry-focused education.
